Samsung t809 Screen Dust research begins

Please visit our new website at Samsung t809 FAQ

I'm setting aside a few hours today to look into how to solve the screen dust problem -- or at least how to remove the dust. I'm going to research not only the compressed air solutions, but also how I might be able to attract the ionized dust into a larger clump that might be easier to remove. I may even go as far as try to disassemble the phone (I have a few extra dollars left over if I need to buy a new one, heh).

If I get back home before day's end, I'll post the results today -- otherwise stay tuned tomorrow. If you have positive or negative results from your trials, drop an e-mail or post a comment.

  • Ooohh good stuff I'd really like to know how to remove it, its' really annoying to have dust in the screen o_O

  • Chris: Did you put the T-Flash card in your phone and set your phone up for USB Mass Storage support? I'll get a hold of you shortly via e-mail.

  • to connect your phone to your computer, navigate your phone to:

menu >settings > phone settings > usb settings

    and select `modem.`

    this fixed it for me.

  • excellent. i just wanted to let you know that i enjoy your blog and will continue to visit it. the only flaw i have right now with this phone is the dust and i am considering returning it and getting a cheaper phone to replace it. so if you find any information on getting the dust out, that would be great. looking forward to hearing your findings. i also think tmobile might deserve a call about the dust because its a real problem with the phone. im very surprised they didnt catch it before releasing it.

  • any update on the dust removal? ive tried almost everything, still no success.

  • honestly, it's my one problem with it so far, though i havent even tackled the bluetooth possibilities yet.

i really think if there's no good way to remove the dust, i can only stand it for another week or two. i mean, it'll only continue to build up, and that would just really suck.

  • I keep my T809 in a small Ziplock bag at all times. My friends think I'm nuts, but so far no dust or scratches. Plus I can still see the screen/talk without removing it.

  • A few questions. I just ordered mine from Tmobile.

How big is the memory card that comes with it.

And where can I get an adapter to let me use some "good" headphones?

  • Finally, I got out the dust in my phone (Samsung T809). For those who wants to do this please be careful not to break the front glass. Get a small/thin flat screwdriver or anything that you can insert it in the upper right side of the revolving camera. Gently start inserting a small/thin flat screwdriver and try to make it bend the glass, (like opening a paint can) move the screwdriver going down till you take out the whole front glass, and you're done. You can glue it back or just leave it without the glue so you can clean it easly. It works for me just be patient. Good luck...
